Homepage research module
The homepage keeps the existing Jekyll / AcademicPages layout and author sidebar.
_pages/about.md: bio and selected publications;research_map: trueenables this module. The previous research bullets are retained in a Liquid comment._includes/research-map.html: research areas, the method cycle, and always-visible supervision examples.assets/js/research-map.js: tab / method controls, method-specific publication descriptions, and animation toggles.assets/css/research-map.css: component-scoped styles with container queries for the actual content-column width.assets/css/home-research.css: homepage-only palette, publication buttons, and content width.assets/images/research/: editable SVG illustrations and pixel icons.
The research introduction precedes Selected Research in _pages/about.md; the interactive overview follows the three selected papers. The longer-term-question callout retains the homepage’s normal prose typography with a light orange background and a small icon. The overview and longer-term question use separate scoped component sections. The callout and closing paragraphs ask what evidence makes delegation to models trustworthy. The callout lists the delegated tasks explicitly: LLM safety evaluation, VLM monitoring of T2I systems, and VLM curation of novel knowledge data. Short diagram captions connect each human contribution to its delegated task; the third case makes the limits of distillation and the role of external human evidence explicit. The outlook extends to automated training-data generation and oversight, including CoT monitoring.
The existing custom head conditionally loads the plain CSS and JavaScript; no new packages or bundler changes are required. Internal asset and publication paths use Jekyll’s relative_url filter; the All publications link uses site.author.googlescholar from the existing site configuration. Keep the initial method list in the include in sync with the Attack data in JavaScript when editing its copy.
_pages is a Git submodule. When publishing, commit and push its changes first, then commit and push the parent repository with the updated submodule pointer.
Module text and publication buttons inherit the homepage font; the standalone SVG labels use the same Georgia serif family. The All publications link closes the selected-paper list, aligned left, in _pages/about.md.
The research panels use compact headings, illustrations, and spacing while retaining readable 14px body text. Container-query overrides preserve the same compact scale on narrow screens.
